* We serve our furry friends home-grown Organic Catnip.
* We recycle EVERYTHING, including all of those cat food cans.
* We use recycled organic compostable cat litter which we flush into our private septic system. So your cat waste does not
end up in the landfills -or- the city sewer system.
* We make our own cat scratching posts out of reused carpets, and saved pieces of wood from previous home improvement projects.
* Our oak floors and knotty pine walls were painstakingly sanded and refinished with a non-toxic Swedish wax finish, purchased
through our good friends at Eco Haus.
* The walls in our private kitty guest suites were all painted with NO-VOC paints -or- hand finished with natural "American
Clay"
* We use environmentally friendly cleaning products for washing the pet food dishes, laundering our copious pet bedding, and
sanitizing the litter boxes.
* We pick up dog waste with biodegradable baggies.
* The large property surrounding the Oswego Cat Lodge is landscaped with natives and drought-resistant plants.
* We use a water conserving system for caring for our large organic vegetable garden located at the cat lodge. This year
we are growing pumpkin, watermelon, many types of squashes, peppers, lettuces, tomatoes, several varieties of blueberries,
strawberries, boc choy, kale, chard, corn, myriad herbs, pickling cucumbers, soy beans, pole beans, sweet peas, potatoes,
artichokes, and we have our cherry and plum trees in production... all lovingly grown with our own organic compost and without
the use of fertilizers, herbicides, or any of that nastiness.
* All of the birdhouses and birdbaths (your cats' live entertainment) at the Oswego Cat Lodge were cleverly found or homemade.
* We use Bach Flower Essences® and Rescue Remedy®, as well as Feliway sprays and plug-ins to help create that tranquil atmosphere
so enjoyed by our furry guests.
* For our In-Home Pet Sitting visits we do drive
a compact fuel-efficient car (33 MPG) to and from your home. We use 100% synthetic oil in all of our vehicles. We also have
a savings fund going for a hybrid, vespa, biodiesel, whatever we decide will be the Ultimate Cat-sitter Mobile.
* One of our dog sitters (employees) does already
drive a Biodiesel Mercedes to and from her dog walking & house sitting jobs. We are still trying to figure out which
is the best choice for our planet. There are so many pros and cons to all of the vehicle options... we do our best!
